Wellness programs that are convenient and accessible to everyone in the Bronx

Our mission is to provide Bronx residents with the education, tools, and resources they need to live healthy, stay healthy, and stay out of the hospital. We have a variety of programs aimed at providing access to fresh, healthy, organically grown food through our partnership with Project EATS. The goal is provide much needed access to fresh produce and proper nutrition that support better health

Rooftop Farm

Looking for fresh foods that taste great and are good for you? Look no further than the Health & Wellness Center Rooftop Farm. This urban garden is transforming eating habits in our local communities. As a partner with Project EATS, we offer affordable seasonal foods that can help boost your overall health.

Food Pantry

The Bronx community faces an inequitable access to healthy and affordable food every day. This leads to unhealthy diets, which can result in poor health and chronic diseases. SBH grows fresh fruits and vegetables on our rooftop farm. The food is incorporated into the Culinary Center and Teaching Kitchen. The SBH Farm Stand offers the fruits and vegetables during the growing season, and are sold at a discounted rate to the community. Any vegetables not sold are given away for free the next day as part of the Food Pantry.

Rooftop Beehive

To keep our garden growing year after year, we’ve also invested in bees. The rooftop green space has a beehive that is home to over 250,000 bees. They produce local honey and pollinate the plants to ensure the next crop of produce.

Women, Infants And Children Program (WIC)

At SBH, we’re dedicated to promoting long-term health and preventing disease. Good nutrition plays a big part in reaching that goal. So, we double-down on our efforts to provide healthy foods to families through our WIC program. This federal and state-funded program is designed for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as moms with children up to age five who meet certain housing and income requirements.
