Our services also extend beyond testing and treatments. We offer counseling, too, through hospital-based support groups led by trained social workers. They can help relieve anxiety and support you through survivorship.

Our mobile mammography service covers every ZIP code in the Bronx, every single year. Regardless of your ability to pay for a mammogram, we’ll make sure you get screened. And, if we find cancer or a sign of something that requires further evaluation, we’ll make sure those services are paid for, as well.

Through our service, we offer 3D mammography, which lets us examine breast tissue with more precision than traditional 2D mammography. Research has found that 3D mammography detects up to 65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D mammography alone.

If you have surgery, such as a lumpectomy or mastectomy, as part of your breast cancer treatment, you may choose to have reconstruction surgery. Our specialists can perform different types of reconstruction procedures. Some are completed — or started — at the same time as your breast cancer surgery. Others are performed later.

Your breast reconstruction surgery options reflect the latest techniques available in the field. They include skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomy, which allows you to preserve the look and shape of your breasts.

Our Women’s Health Center was the first facility in the Bronx dedicated to women’s care. We offer a wide range of specialized women’s health services at the center, including high-quality and compassionate OB-GYN care for women at every age and stage of life, as well as gynecologic oncology services.

The Women’s Health Center is part of the SBH Health and Wellness Center — a facility dedicated to your health and wellness, and improving outcomes in the Bronx. The SBH Health and Wellness Center features a fitness center, teaching kitchen and rooftop farm.

Our breast health team prides itself on caring for the Bronx community with the very best diagnostic and treatment options for breast cancer. We offer complete screenings and diagnostic imaging — including ultrasound and breast MRI — noninvasive biopsies and cutting-edge surgical procedures. In fact, we were the first health system in the Bronx to offer 3D imaging and 3D biopsy.
