SBH Nurses Teach PS 55 Kids About Nursing
May 3, 2010 | Categories: Community Outreach, Presentations

When third graders at P.S. 55 in the Bronx invited SBH to come to their class to talk about “Nursing as a Profession,” nurses Mary Carmel and Alma Calandria were glad to fill the request.
“The student that made the request for a nurse receives her medical care at SBH and insisted that her teacher reach out to our hospital for a nurse presenter,” reported Ms. Calandria.
While the children asked lots of questions, one that caught everyone’s attention was, “Does St. Barnabas keep medication for a snake bite?”
The doctors and nurses at St. Barnabas facilities are often available to participate in community events. For more information call 718-960-9482 and ask about our Speakers Bureau.
