Overview
Message from the Chairman
We appreciate your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program St. Barnabas Hospital! We currently offer a fully accredited 4-year training program in Diagnostic Radiology and we are approved for 13 residents. We believe that radiology remains one of the most exciting and challenging disciplines in medicine. Our mission is to provide an educational environment that fosters learning and professional development. Our residents have a long history of high achievement on the Radiology Board Examinations. Our graduates receive superb clinical training and are highly successful obtaining coveted practice opportunities and prestigious fellowships throughout the country.
The department performs over 130,000 examinations a year in all diagnostic radiology subspecialty areas. The Radiology Department uses a digital PACS system and has a 64-slice PET/CT scanner, 4-slice CT scanner, a 1.5 T Siemens MRI, 2 nuclear medicine SPECT/gamma cameras and a recently updated fluoroscopy system. The two-room angiography suite includes two Phillips single-plane angiography systems. We are currently in the process of updating our ultrasound suites. In addition, the department is approved for digital mammography, replacement of the 4 slice CT scanner with a new 32 or 64 slice scanner and an upgrade to the nuclear medicine department as the hospital was recently approved to begin cardiac stenting.
