Cardiology
St. Barnabas is proud to offer a full-service cardiology department with both in-patient facilities and out-patient offices and clinics in general cardiology and in its specialties. Our emergency room is a 911-certified acceptable treatment center for acute cardiac problems.
In the 1950s, SBH was the first hospital in the country to offer open heart surgery. Since then we have continued to stay on the cutting edge of cardiology to serve our patient population and beyond. We have recruited physicians and staff from the finest academic centers in the country.
Cardiology Services:
Consultative team:
Our in-hospital patients have the availability to be seen by our team of general and specialized cardiologists. Our patients are seen promptly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and recommendations for additional testing and procedures are discussed with both patients and their families. When indicated, we have a full-service Intensive Care Unit which is staffed full time by board-certified intensivists with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment.
Cardiac imaging/Non-Invasive Testing:
Our full-service non-invasive laboratory offers a large staff of technicians and physicians. Services include: Electrocardiograms, Echocardiography (both routine and transesophageal (TEE)), stress testing including nuclear imaging, Holter monitoring, event recorders, and pacemaker follow-up center. These services are available for both hospitalized and out-patients.
Cardiac catheterization lab:
We offer both in- and out-patient diagnostic and interventional studies in our state-of-the-art lab, which includes “24/7” cath for diagnosis and treatment of acute stemi and ACS – prompt appointments given routinely for pre- and post-procedure evaluation.
Heart failure service:
In-patient/out-patient evaluation and follow up for systolic and diastolic heart failure. Multi-disciplinary team approach with board-certified cardiologist, NP, dietary and social service availability.
Arrhythmia service:
AICD Pacemaker/ Implantation. regular clinic sessions with cardiac electrophysiologist for AICD and pacemaker follow-up.
