St. Barnabas Hospital to Break Ground for New Garage
WHAT: St. Barnabas Hospital will break ground for its new parking garage with
hospital leadership, elected officials and community representatives among those participating in the groundbreaking ceremony to officially kick off the construction.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 29 (12:30 a.m.)
WHERE: 2175 Quarry Road, Bronx
DETAILS: For St. Barnabas Hospital, an on-campus parking garage has been 25 years in the making, with parking severely limited on campus for doctors, staff, patients, and visitors. This has resulted in long waits and poor traffic flow.
Through the use of federal stimulus money, construction of a garage will change this, while resulting in jobs for 173 union members over 12 months. The garage, which will be six stories and include 605 parking spaces, is scheduled for completion in August 2012.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is among those scheduled to participate in the groundbreaking ceremonies.
